Tern
Innova distance driver
Simulated flight at four arm speeds
Each row is one throw in the DGFV flight model at one of the free tool's skill presets (Rec, Int, Adv, Pro): a new Star Tern at 175 g, thrown flat, right hand backhand, no wind.
| Skill preset | Speed | Carry | Peak height | Lands | 3D |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rec | 54 mph | 233 ft (71 m) | 8 ft | 9 ft left | Throw |
| Int | 61 mph | 369 ft (113 m) | 15 ft | 18 ft right | Throw |
| Adv | 64 mph | 427 ft (130 m) | 22 ft | 30 ft right | Throw |
| Pro | 70 mph | 539 ft (164 m) | 26 ft | 87 ft right | Throw |
Seen from above, thrower on the left. The side-to-side scale is stretched 1.1 times so the curve is visible.
What the simulation shows
- The turn shows from Int (61 mph) upward, up to 87 ft right at Pro. Below that it holds or fades from release.
- At Pro it is still moving right when it lands, so the fade never pulls it back.
- At Adv it lands 30 ft right; at Pro, 87 ft right.
- Going from Rec to Pro adds 307 ft of carry (233 ft to 539 ft).
- At Adv its carry ranks 39 of 420 distance drivers in the catalogue, and 4 of 36 Innova distance drivers.
Discs with similar numbers
The three catalogue molds closest to Tern on speed, glide, turn and fade without being identical, thrown the same way at Adv (64 mph), each in the plastic the free tool picks first for its maker.
| Disc | Numbers | Carry | vs Tern | Lands |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paradigm Discmania | 12 / 6 / -1.5 / 2 | 424 ft | -3 ft | 9 ft right |

Throw it yourself
The free tool opens with the Tern loaded. Change the plastic, weight, wear, wind, release angle and throwing hand, and watch the flight in 3D.

How these numbers were made
Flight numbers are the ratings carried in the DGFV disc catalogue. Distances, heights and paths come from the same flight model the free tool runs, simulated on 2026-10-31: skill preset power, nose angle and spin, automatic launch angle, no wind, ground play off, so carry is where the disc first lands. Real throws vary with form, plastic, weight and weather. DGFV is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Innova.
